Meet the Baronial Candidates

Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir and Lady Cristin verch Reys

To their most Noble and Gracious Majesties, their Excellencies the Baron and Baroness of St.
Florian de la Riviere, Count Stephen Aldred, and to the wonderful people of St. Florian de la
Riviere, Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir and Lady Cristin verch Reys send heartfelt greetings.

We would like to humbly put our names forward for the position of Baroness and Baroness of St
Florian de la Riviere to serve the populace of these great lands and to expand our love of service
to the Kingdom.

If we are successful, as your Baronesses, our desire is to continue to build on the great work our
current and previous Barons & Baronesses, we would honour their work by continuing to form a
community that honours and nurtures creativity, historical exploration, and a sense of belonging.
We seek to continue to have a welcoming, inclusive, and dynamic space where all individuals,
regardless of experience or background, feel empowered to contribute their skills, ideas, and
passions to the Barony and to the Kingdom of Lochac.

We are a strong partnership with a dedication to service, with Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir serving for
over 20+ years in officer positions of Chronicler (Canton of Burnfield), Seneschal (Canton of Draks
Fjord) and Chirurgeon (Barony of St Florian de la Riviere). Lady Cristin verch Reys has been a
member since 2021 and in that time has gained her Target Archery Marshal authorisation and has
served in the position of the St Florian group Seneschal for the past 22 months. We have both
stewarded events over the past two years, including the 2023 Baronial Championship, and are the
co-stewards for GNW 2025.
In this role, we will strive to:

Celebrate the Arts and Sciences: Encouraging and supporting the creation and sharing of art,
craftsmanship, and knowledge. From weaving and leatherwork to calligraphy and song, we want
our Barony to continue to be a vibrant hub where creativity thrives, with ample opportunities for
everyone to explore and learn new crafts. Regular workshops, showcase events, and
collaboration among artisans and newcomers will be strongly supported by us.

We will continue to regularly attend Monday night’s Fighter Practice, assisting with marshalling as
well as working on projects in the upstairs hall. From what started as two people working on
personal and baronial projects upstairs has grown over the past 6 months and we are excited to
see it grow even more during our tenure.

Foster Stronger Community Bonds: We aspire to lead with empathy, transparency and
engagement, creating a welcoming space where all feel valued, heard and respected.
Strengthening the bonds between our populace and other SCA groups through regular gatherings,
feasts, and local activities will deepen our connections, ensuring no one feels like a stranger. Our
desire is to lead by example with kindness, fairness, and joy, inspiring others to share in the
fellowship that makes this community so special.

We will be active in finding opportunities to promote our great Barony and the world of SCA to our
mundane neighbours, through more demos and representation at local community events.
We also commit to travelling to interstate events each year to provide representation of our great
Barony within Lochac, and to encourage our populace to attend events at other SCA groups, both
near and afar. Invitations to our cousin Barons & Baronesses from across the land will be
extended, to further strengthen our ties.

Honour Chivalric Values: As Baronesses of St Florian de la Riviere, we will strive to uphold the
chivalric virtues of courtesy, honour, and service, encouraging our populace to strive for these
ideals in every interaction. We will work to ensure our Barony remains a place where respect is
given freely, where all can be teachers, mentors, and role models for those around them.

We have a vision to field a formidable fighting force to defend our lands and kingdom. Whether on
list fields or war fields we would aim to inspire the St Florian de la Riviere fighters by proudly
displaying the Baronial heraldry, promoting our values and providing support from the sidelines.
From providing water bearers and chirurgeons to marshalling and facilitating training & mentoring
opportunities we will do all we can to support our combatants and embolden them to proudly
represent our Barony.

Promote Inclusivity and Diversity: The strength of our Barony lies in its rich diversity of its
people and their experience, skills, knowledge and passions. We are committed to ensuring that
our Barony remains a place where everyone—regardless of background, identity, or ability—feels
welcome and supported. Together, we will continue to grow in understanding and appreciation of
the challenges many of us face, and how we can strive to do better This includes supporting the
continued investment of easier accessibility to our training fields, and other SCA initiatives such
as silent heraldry, Clan Blue Feather gatherings and Quiet Tents at events.

Champion the Spirit of Play and Learning: One of the core joys of the SCA is the ability to
immerse ourselves in the past while embracing the future. We want our Barony to be a place
where learning is celebrated and where the pursuit of knowledge is approached with both
reverence and joy. Whether through tournaments, arts & science competitions, or scholarly
endeavours, we will continue to honour the past while having fun in the process.

As parents of two teenagers who are also active in the SCA, we strongly believe that it is our young
members that secures the future of our great Barony and Kingdom. In addition to supporting the
proposed college to be set up for success and longevity, we will also be continuing our personal
support of Youth Armoured Combat into the Northern Reaches. With both of these in place, it
provides a strong pathway for even our littlest of gentles to enjoy the richness of the SCA as they
grow into adulthood.

Leadership through Service: Our ultimate vision is one where leadership is defined not by
titles, but by service. We believe that true leadership in the SCA is about uplifting others, guiding
with compassion, and creating opportunities for people to grow and thrive. We will work to lead
with humility and to create pathways for others to take up roles of responsibility within the Barony
and Kingdom ensuring that our group remains strong and dynamic.

In all things, we will work alongside our Seneschal and Baronial Officers and the people of this
Barony to create a safe space where creativity, camaraderie, and a love for all things SCA are
celebrated. Through cooperation, kindness, and a shared passion for what we do, we will
continue to grow, inspire, and create legacies worthy of our time.

We believe that the role of B&B is very much a hands-on one, and that we are here to serve the
good gentles of St Florian de la Riviere with integrity, honesty, theatre and shenanigans. We
humbly request that you consider us for the role of Baroness and Baroness of St Florian de la
Riviere.

Yours in Service to the Dream
Lady Eydis Ragnarsdottir and Lady Cristin verch Reys
